I was never particularly excited about this holiday except as a day off from school. My kids, however, love all national observances, commemorative days, and holidays. Plus, my eldest daughter is fascinated by rulers and leaders (note: not the same thing). She has read much of the Civipedia in Civilization (computer game). And, we're some number of cousins removed from to President Obama.
