Apollo 11 top ten discoveries about the moon

Before the Apollo 11 mission, the first manned mission to land on the moon, knowledge of the moon was largely speculative. The top 10 scientific discoveries made during the Apollo 11 mission are as follows.
  1. The moon is an evolved terrestrial satellite with internal zones (crust, lithosphere, asthenosphere, and core).
  2. The moon is ancient (3.2 to 4.6 billion years.)
  3. Ancient surfaces on the moon persist with little disturbance.
  4. The moon and earth are made from common source materials.
  5. No traces of life, past or present, have been found on the moon.
  6. Moon rocks formed with little to no interaction with water.
  7. The moon was once melted largely to form a magma ocean.
  8. Lunar basins formed when large asteroids hit the magma ocean.
  9. The moon is slightly asymmetrical.
  10. The moon's surface is covered by rock fragments and dust called the lunar regolith.
